My dog was in a fight with another dog. Both were off leash. I got bitten while breaking the fight up. The other party says she might help with medical bills depending on how much they are. I had a revision gastric bypass surgery by a doctor at USC University Hospital, he admittadtedly told me he accidentally perforated my intestine during original surgery. Peritonitis set in because of it and Dr. Crookes did not see that I was dying, and waited two weeks of me in ICU, while turning septic near death before re operating and closing the hole in my intestines. He had to leave the wound open which was 12"x13" in my abdomen. I left the operating room with a very large wound vac covering my enormous wound. I was in the hospital for 7 weeks resulting in pneumonia and many other complications, and operating procedures including a balloon dilation of my stomach that he made so small I could not eat anything and had to be fed by a tube along with many blood transfusions. I was discharged with the wound vac and had to have home health care nurses come every other day to change the wound vac. I was still in such pain and so nauseated and week I could not get out of bed. I went back to Dr. Crookes at USC University hospital and told him I had been in severe pain and left 3messages to call me back and he didn't until I had to threaten a law suit to his office girl before he called me back. My sister took me to his office in LA, a 2 hour Dr. from where we live. Dr. Crookes said he thought my pain was muscular and it would go away in time and said my wound looked good. He did not take any cultures and sent me home. Two days later, I called him again, told him my wound was worse with redness spreading all the way across my right breast, I had a 102 fever and in a lot of pain. Dr. Crookes told me to go to my local hospital and get a cat scan to see if I had any obstructions and he was sure I did not have any infection in my wound. Told me not to go the the local ER until the next day, and if I feel better by morning, don't even bother to go. I did what he said and the ER Dr. immediately took blood tests and a culture of my wound and admitted me into the hospital. Three days later an infectious disease Dr. came to me with the results of my wound culture. It came back as Carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter Baumanii, he told me if I don't start taking this IV antibiotic called Tigecycline my bacterial infection will kill me within 3 or 4 days. Dr. Crookes called me and he apologized that he "missed it" and he was glad I found a Dr. that saved my life. I feel his constant misdiagnosis of my medical condition that he did to me in first place should not go unpunished. I still have an open wound and have been in bed at home and in 3 hospitals for 5 months now. I don't know what else will happen to me because of the incompetence by USC. I personally saw one of Dr. Crookes 4 year resident Dr.s work on me a lot and wouldn't be surprised at all if the resident actually did the surgery in the first place practicing on me. Have you ever won a case against USC Los Angeles? Please call me asap as I am flying out of town on Friday this week so my sons family can take care of me, as I can not do anything for myself. I was driving a company owned 18 wheeler. Something struck windshield and glass entered eyes. After 2 weeks of treatment still having problems with one eye and still blurry vision. Worker Comp company has decided to reduce weekly benefits. The windshield didn't break properly in my opinion either. It broken into little pieces, shards and dust. I was rear-ended on 12/21/07. I am suffering from back pain and still going to PT at least twice a week. I was told that I did not have damage that would affect my nerves and that I should be better quickly. My physical therapist reviewed my x-rays and MRI (including written documentation included with them) and saw that every one of my disks is bulged and I have something wrong with a lower ligament. She said that all of this damage from the car accident could be permanent. The insurance company of the person that hit me called the other day to see how I am doing, when I explained that I am still in a lot of pain, unable to do normal things (lift my step-daughter, hike, ride my bike, sit for long periods of time, etc...) she said that it sounded degenerative to her. I feel like the insurance company is already trying to avoid any blame and that scares me, what if this is something that does not get better soon, and/or requires treatment down the road. I want to be protected. I would like to talk to an attorney to see what I should do to make sure I am protected, I have been suffering for four months already and am still not able to resume my normal activities or end the day without being in pain. None of this was my fault and I want to be sure I am protected.
