Phil graduated from Jacksonville State University, with an Honor's degree in finance, and from the University of Alabama School of Law. He was awarded academic scholarships while attending both Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama. Phil holds memberships with the United States District Court, Northern District of Alabama, the Alabama State Bar Association, and the Morgan County Bar Association. He has served the bar as the Chairman of the Alabama State Bar's Committee on Access to Legal Services which oversees the state's Volunteer Lawyers Program and as Chairman of the Morgan County Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyer Program. Phil also serves as a member of the Bench and Bar Committee of the Morgan County Bar Association where judges of Morgan County and members of the committee address local issues involving our court system. Phil has previously served as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the Young Lawyers Division of the Morgan County Bar Association.

Bingham D. Edwards

Bingham David Edwards has been a practicing attorney in Decatur, Alabama, since 1968. He is a graduate of the University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee, and the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Staff of the Alabama Law Review. Bingham clerked for Federal District Judge Sebourn H. Lynne upon graduation from Law School and then served as Assistant District Attorney for the 11th Judicial Circuit of Alabama for one year. Bingham served as a Senator in the Alabama State Legislature representing Morgan and Lawrence Counties from 1974 to 1978 and was selected as one of Alabama's Four Outstanding Young Men in 1975. Bingham represented Alabama as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1976. Bingham holds professional memberships with the Morgan County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Alabama Trial Lawyer's Association. Bingham has served his community on numerous boards including the Kiwanis Club and the Decatur Jaycees. Bingham is also a member of the Board of Directors of Heritage Bank.

In his thirty-two years of practice, Bingham has handled a variety of cases in all State and Federal Courts in Alabama, including serious personal injury claims, civil wrongful death, insurance fraud and criminal defense, trying hundreds of cases to conclusion. He has received some of the largest jury verdicts in North Alabama. Bingham handles personal injury matters, fraud, real estate closings, real estate disputes, domestic relations matters, as well as corporate defense matters. Bingham has received the highest legal ability rating of "A" from the editorial staff of Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.

Bingham is married to the former Elizabeth Watson. They have two children, Bing and Reynolds, who are both attorneys in Birmingham, Alabama. Bingham and his wife are members of St. John's Episcopal Church in Decatur, Alabama, and the Cursillo Movement of Alabama. Bingham is an enthusiastic fisherman.
