About Richard Thompson:
Since 1974, Richard A. Thompson has represented clients in the Southeast Louisiana area and other parts of the country in a wide variety of matters, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. For the past 25 years, he has limited his practice to litigation involving physician and hospital malpractice. He acts as consulting counsel for many Louisiana attorneys in medical malpractice matters. He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana courts, both state and federal.
Mr. Thompson is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, and he was a founding member of the LTLA Medical Malpractice Section. He is a member of the ATLA Professional Negligence Section and is active in medical negligence matters in Louisiana. Mr. Thompson was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (Juris Doctor) from Louisiana State University, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana Tech University.
Outside the legal world, Mr. Thompson is an Advisor in the Boy Scout Venturing program with his wife, Evelyn Pugh Thompson, and their two sons. He is a member of the National Speleological Society, the Southeast Cave Conservancy, the Nature Conservancy, and the American Civil Liberties Union.
