Since its inception in 1979, McConville, Considine, Cooman & Morin has represented clients seriously injured by the negligence or intentional misconduct of others. Our compassionate and personal representation of our clients sets us apart from other personal injury firms which often have volume-based, impersonal practices. Our smaller case volume allows us to provide individual attention to each client.
We realize that with the inundation of personal injury advertising it is often difficult to choose the right attorney. Retaining an attorney in a personal injury matter is often the beginning of a long-term relationship so both the client and attorney should be comfortable with one another. Talk with other firms and then come and meet with us. You will feel the difference.
Many personal injury firms claim that they focus "exclusively on personal injury cases." In our view, this narrowness of focus and expertise may restrict a firm's ability to serve a client well. Serious injuries often result in major changes in personal circumstances and force clients to deal with legal issues such as employment problems, disruption of a business, financial crisis including the need for tax planning or bankruptcy , as well as life care, retraining and estate planning issues. Because McConville, Considine is a full service law firm, our personal injury clients have immediate access not just to the trial lawyers handling the personal injury claim, but also to the business, personal, estate and financial planning attorneys who can best address the other problems caused by the injury.
Our firm is a growing multi-practice law firm located in Rochester, New York, and has provided quality legal services to businesses and individuals since 1979. With 12 attorneys and a full paralegal and support staff, the firm is large enough to provide the necessary expertise in a broad range of legal areas, yet small enough to allow us to devote prompt, personal attention to our clients.
Our offices are located in the Historic Talman Building, a five story office building owned by the firm and located in downtown Rochester, New York. The building's historic significance relates to its age (built circa 1840) and to its prior occupants. From 1847 through 1863 Frederick Douglass had his office and published his newspapers in the building; Harriet Jacobs's anti-slavery reading room was located in the building; and the building was a stop on the Underground Railroad. We are located within a several minute walk to the state and federal courthouses and our location ideally suits us to serve clients in Rochester, Monroe County and all of the surrounding counties throughout Western New York.
Our clients are diverse. They include individuals, numerous businesses in both the manufacturing and service industries, towns, health care organizations, health care providers, and professionals in individual and group practice.
If you or someone you know has been seriously injured due to the negligence of others, we encourage you to speak with a lawyer.

Kevin S. Cooman

Kevin joined the Firm in 1980 as a partner, and has headed the Firm's significant and growing litigation department since that time. He currently serves the Firm as its managing partner and mentor for the Firm's litigators, in addition to his litigation practice.
For 25 years Kevin has engaged in a broad-based civil litigation practice, handling cases from intake through full appellate practice before the highest courts in New York State and the federal court system. These cases have included major and precedent-setting litigation in the fields of: general contract and commercial claims, products liability, negligence and professional liability, trademark, health care, civil rights, employment discrimination, securities and consumer fraud, tax, banking, education and construction.
Kevin also provides general regulatory, risk management and corporate counseling to clients in health care (e.g., long-term care facilities, provider practice groups, and a Medicaid managed care IPA), construction (owners, general contractors, and subcontractors), and to religious corporations.
Frustrated with the outdated case preparation methods utilized by many litigators, Kevin spearheaded the Firm's commitment to technological innovation in the practice of law. This resulted in the creation of several proprietary legal software programs, including THUNDER for Lawyers (case development, strategy and tracking) and CLOUDS (complete document organizer), marketed to law firms by Cooman Software, and for which the Firm is the flagship site.
Kevin graduated cum laude from Colby College (Waterville, ME) in 1975, with Distinction in both Government and American Studies, and from Georgetown University Law Center (Washington, D.C.) in 1978, magna cum laude. Refusing to succumb to "Potomac Fever," he returned to Rochester to establish a litigation practice in his hometown.
Kevin is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, American Health Lawyers Association, New York State and Monroe County Bar Associations, and the Christian Legal Society.
