It is a well-settled principle that in fact situations such as we have here damages for mental suffering can be recovered only if related to a physical injury or contact suffered by the plaintiff. Deutsch v. Shein, Ky., 597 S.W.2d 141 (1980). Wheatley may recover for his mental injuries resulting from his own physical injuries, but not for his mental suffering caused by the physical injuries of Christi.
I would affirm.
