In re Mendy8/31/2001 vating and mitigating factors, we conclude a six month suspension from the practice of law, followed by a six month period of probation, is an appropriate sanction.
DECREE
Upon review of the findings and recommendation of the hearing committee and disciplinary board, and considering the record, it is the decision of this court that respondent, Edward Bissau Mendy, be suspended from the practice of law for a period of six months, followed by a six month period of probation. All costs and expenses in the matter are assessed against respondent in accordance with Supreme Court Rule XIX, ยง 10.1, with legal interest to commence thirty days from the date of the finality of this court's judgment until paid.
