Fernando v. Wiseman

5/26/2005

This case was broght by plaintiff and won by defendant. The initial exam note was to discuss the case with the surgical intern and consider an ultrasound or abdominal CT scan. The surgical resident wanted to rule out appendicitis. Two ultrasounds were conducted, one of the pelvic region and the other in the abdominal area. An ultrasound showed there was fluid throughout the abdomen. According to Dr. Garcia, the "ultrasound can't identify an area of leakage or injury" but can only "identify fluid," which it did. We agree.
