Several months ago, I settled a personal injury case in which a Canadian hunting guide was accidentally shot by a loaded shotgun that was proped against a seat in a pick-up truck and not placed on safety. The hunting guide lost the tip of his pinky finger, but did not lose any income and suffered no medical bills under the Canadian health care system. The case settled for $70,000.
