A 43 yr old Columbia Missouri woman sustained severe injuries to her head and legs when she was hit headon in a motor vehicle accident with a vehicle driven by a 21 year old drunk driver. Suit in Boond County Missouri circuit court was brought against the driver and the bar establishment he had left 15 minutes before the collision. The drunk driver had a blood alcohol content of almost three times the legal limit. Dram shop liablity was asserted against the bar as the driver was visibly intoxicated while still being served drinks at the bar. Receipts obtained from the bar proved the young driver was served multiple drinks over a 3 hour period, the last coming minutes before the wreck. He was arrested and convicted of vehicle assault. The case settled prior to trial for the policy limits.
